Another year is starting with the Chicago Scuba Meetup Group, and diving is already starting! On the 8th, some of us are pool diving, and some of us will be enjoying the special experience of cold water diving at Haigh Quarry. But don't worry, there are also plans to dive the somewhat warmer waters of Bonne Terre Mines later this month, and in March, the much warmer waters of Bonaire.
But we have always been about enjoying our sport of diving, whether if it is local or far away, warm or cold. Exploring the underwater world is an experience that never leaves us. Once we have submerged, we find a different world and we become one of the privileged few of the land based creatures to enjoy it.
The Chicago Scuba Meetup Group has
been about increasing our enjoyment of the sport through education and events. We have also been about diving first and foremost, and helping other divers dive more often and learn more in the process. We are an informal group, and membership has always been, and will always be free.
However, we have instituted during the past few years a special category of membership called the "sustaining membership" This is an opportunity for members to help support our club by donating $20 a year to help with our basic expenses, such as our website and event support. This helps us keep going and helps us do more in the future. If you feel that this club has been of value to you, we do appreciate you giving us this level of support. For more information and information on how to become a sustaining member, please follow this link http://www.meetup.com/chicago-scuba-meetup/messages/boards/thread/5268250
We hope to see you at many of our events during the coming year.
