Subject: [scuba-105] A great year ahead for Chicago Scuba Meetup

Rob Zwissler did a commendable thing by stepping up to the plate and serving as Meetup Organizer these last few weeks. He made it clear that he did not want it to be a permanent position. He and others of the group have asked me to fill the spot and I have accepted.

As an introduction to those that have not met me, I have have been a member of the group from the beginning, put together the first charter on Lake Michigan, and was later made an Assistant Organizer. I became a certified diver in 2001, and became crazy over the sport ever since. Although I haven't been diving that long, considering my age, I dive as much as I can. To me, the main reason to join a dive club is to go diving and learn about diving from others.

The Chicago Scuba Meetup Group is one of Chicago's newest dive clubs, and in being Web based, one of the most modern. It has operated a little differently than most dive clubs, and this has both it's good points and it bad points. I want to accentuate the good points and smooth over the bad points. My main goal will be to encourage participation among the membership. I hope you will all help me in this.

Over the next few weeks, there will be a number of hopefully positive changes to the Scuba Meetup. I look forward to hearing from everyone on suggestions on what can make this a more enjoyable group for everyone.

Remember, our next meeting will be on June 16th, and we will have a special guest speaker. Authors Cris Kohl and Joan Forsberg will be speaking on Great Lakes diving. This should not be missed.

The year is just starting for us, so keep posted at http://scuba.meetup.com/105/ for the latest on the Chicago Scuba Meetup.
