Happy New Year everyone! We hope this year is a great one and that you all get in some good diving adventures!
We will be meeting this month at the Irish Times in Brookfield.
Our presentation this month will be with Matt Udelson, a professional diver and possibly the first person we have presented who has had direct experience with saturation diving. This is the type of diving done by those that need to spend extended time under water, housed in a dry environment, to perform tasks of a scientific or commercial nature. Nitrogen saturation allows people to stay under atmospheric pressure without continuously adding to their decompression obligation. He did this while working as a commercial diver in the Gulf of Mexico.
Matthew Udelson is the Co-Founder and Co-Owner of Matt’s Diving and Marine, LLC with his wife. There he utilizes his diving credentials to clean boat hulls, and to recover items that are dropped into Lake Michigan Harbors by boaters and non-boaters alike.
Matthew started his diving adventures when he was 21 as a way to help maintain his parents sailboat and make it more competitive. He then went to Diver’s Institute of Technology in 2016 at the age of 23 and became an Unrestricted Surface Supply Diver. After which he went on to work in the Gulf of Mexico for 1 year, before coming in-land and continuing to work as a professional diver.
At the end of 2023, after several years doing other endeavors he came back to diving and started Matt’s Diving and Marine with his wife, and obtained his USCG 50 Ton Captain’s License in Mid-2024.
