Meetup details changed: Samson and Delilah: Cleveland Cinematheque / Etna in Little Italy

Hi everyone,

I hope you are enjoying the holidays and keeping warm at the movies.

Speaking of movies, we had a near record-breaking crowd of 30 people at Black Swan. While the reaction to the movie went from Okay to nearly excellent, the conversation was certainly lively. Thanks to all who attended and to Michael for setting everything up.

Part of the reason for the uptick in turnout was a recent mention of our group in Yahoo. We are glad to have the new members. Yahoo story

(Congratulations to Bob Keller who became member number 700 to join the group.)

As this is the new year, either use Paypal to pay your $5 dues for 2011 or pay your organizer. We appreciate your payment to keep this group going.

This weekend, i saw "True Grit" and frankly, I was not overwhelmed. Now don't depend totally on my review since critics have been falling over each other telling everyone how good this latest Coen Brothers film is. Anyone else seen it?

One movie i CAN recommend is "The King's Speech". This movie has been universally praised. We are seeing it this Thursday. Don't miss it.

Then, on Sunday, our first movie of the year is another excellent movie that happens to be produced in Hollywood. "The Fighter" is less about fighting and more about family dynamics.

Then, our first foreign movie is a well-regarded but overlooked Australian film called "Samson and Delilah" from 2009. It has nothing to do with the Bible story, or maybe it does? It is at the Cinematheque and is one of those movies that stay with you long after it has ended. Please join us.

I've updated this Meetup. For more details, see the full listing:
