August potluck with VERY special guest, Jon Camp!!

  • Aug 31, 2014 · 6:00 PM
  • Lisa's Club House

I am super excited to have Jon Camp return for another presentation on how we can ALL make a difference for our animal friends! Jon just recently got inducted into the Animal Rights Hall of Fame for passing out over 1 million leaflets over the course of his 10 years of work with Vegan Outreach. Jon is a very special human being and this is a very special opportunity to meet and learn from someone who has a very unique position and vantage point in the animal rights movement.

Come join us at our monthly potluck for delicious food and friendly conversation.  Afterward, we're excited to present a nationally-known vegan activist: Jon Camp, Executive Vice President of Vegan Outreach, speaking on "Effective Vegan Advocacy."

Using humor and his experiences from ten years on the road for Vegan Outreach, Jon will discuss the importance of focusing our advocacy efforts on farm animals, the increasing receptivity towards veganism and farm animal issues, and how we can further accelerate this progress.  More speaker info below.

Potluck info:  bring a vegan dish--no meat, poultry, fish, dairy products, eggs or honey--to serve eight, with recipe card or list of ingredients and serving utensil. Please also bring your own reusable table service.

Over the last ten years, Jon Camp has traveled throughout the United States leafleting and giving talks at colleges. In this time, he has personally given out over a million booklets to students while simultaneously running Vegan Outreach's Adopt a College campaign. Jon's thoughts on advocacy have been featured in a variety of books and documentaries.

To the folks who attended the Jon Camp potluck.....someone brought any amazing, homemade, vegan cheese log that I would love the recipe. If the chef who made that is out there....can you send the recipe my way? Thank you! Julie

Glad I got to witness Jon's story about advocating for animals. It's so simple..certainly not rocket science. He just says "Animal Information" and offers passerbyers a leaflet. I found it hopeful that we're learning how to target certain demographics to obtain positive results. And for those who donate money, it's nice to know that the money goes directly to passing out more leaflets. I'm so glad he came to town and shared his experiences and wisdom. The food was OUTSTANDING and I loved meeting new people and seeing Lisa. Thanks Boulder!

That's sweet for you to offer. I live in Berthoud and have to work until 5pm. Might not be enough time.

Lisa, I am thinking of inviting me ex and my younger kids (it's his weekend with them) to the meetup so he can get an idea of what can be done with vegan cooking. My sons haven't asked him to change his cooking when the visit but the youngest wants him to at least go vegetarian and Dad is feeling a bit lost. Would this be an appropriate pot luck or should I wait for a cooking demonstration one? I'm not sure how intense the advocacy portion is and how that will be received. Any ideas?
