Welcome! Each month we will get together and share our yummy home-made dishes and special recipes. We feature a different style of cuisine each month. We enjoy sampling new ethnic cuisines, and will use just about any excuse to have a party! To do this...we need people to volunteer to host events in their homes. You don't need to have an especially large home; as long as you can accommodate somewhere between 10 to 20 people (or more), inside and out on the patio, that's plenty of room!
At our potluck parties, EACH attendant is expected to bring a dish to share. So if you attend and bring a spouse or significant other or a friend, that means that EACH of you should bring a dish to share. That way, we have a variety of dishes, and there's plenty for everyone. We ask for a small donation to cover out-of-pocket expenses for the event, such as plates and plastic ware. It's $2 per member and $3 per guest. A couple of which one of the two is a member, would donate $5 for the couple. We also ask to you volunteer to join one of these small sub-groups for each party :
1) set-up crew: arrive a half-hour early to help the host set up and get ready for the party,
2) helper crew: volunteer to help out during the party (giving people name tags, collecting the donations, or other task assigned by the event organizer), or
3) clean-up crew: help clean up at the end of the party so that the host is left with a neat and tidy home. (This is the funnest part of the entire party!)
PLEASE NOTE: Since most of our parties take place in the private residences of our members, it is necessary that you have a recognizable 'head -and-shoulders' photo of yourself (not your pet or a pretty sunset) on your profile in order to attend events that take place in people's homes.
In addition to enjoying fantastic parties in which everyone brings a dish that they've prepared, we also enjoy learning about cooking and different ways to prepare foods, We have cooking classes, baking classes, and food preparation demonstrations. We occasionally have wine-tasting and food pairing lessons. Sometimes one of our members will show us how to prepare a special dish. Have a favorite recipe that you'd like to share with us? Contact Devora, and she'll set up an event where you can teach others how to prepare your recipe. Want to learn how to cook a particular cuisine? Tell Devora, and she'll try to find someone to offer a class.
Sometimes we simply go to a restaurant that caters to a particular style of dishes or cuisine. Sometimes we attend cultural festivals and sample ethnic dishes served there. Have an idea? Share it with Devora, and she'll set it up.
This group is not just about cooking and food, but is also about HAVING FUN! We like to chat and laugh and dance and a whole lot more. Bring your biggest smile with you and count on having a great time!
