Hi everyone-

We're just 3 weeks away from the amazing Corgi [fundraising] parade through Portland's Pearl District!!  Our Corgis will all wear a matching scarf (thanks to Barbara Kimberley) as they take their owners on a .5 to .75 mile walk through the Pearl.  Last year was a record-breaking year with close to 200 Corgis and I am hoping for a repeat this year.

This year's Walk is sponsored by: Outrigger Hotels, Higgins Restaurant, North Portland Veterinary Hospital, Furry Frenzy Dog Walking and Pet Care, Action Employment, Hope Counseling Services, and Performance Power Concepts Oregon.  I am grateful for their support.

Walk begins at 10 am on the corner of NW Park and Everett in Portland. 


Registration fee: $25 for your first Corgi and $15 for each additional Corgi (or doggy sibling of a Corgi). 

You decide where you want your registration fee to go: DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital or Corgi Rescue.


In anticipation of a big turnout I want to encourage you to pre-register.  We will have a table that is for all people/Corgis that have pre-registered.  Barbara Kimberley and Marc Andrews will check in everyone who has pre-registered (both DL and Corgi Rescue).  You will sign-in with them and pick up your doggy's scarf and a water bottle.

On-Site Registration
There will also be an onsite registration table.  Carol Schroeder, President of the Corgi Club, along with a cadre of Corgi Club and DoveLewis volunteers will oversee the onsite registration.  We take only checks and cash for the onsite registration.

On-site registration begins at 9 am.

THIRSTY CORGIS: We will have water dishes at the Walk and we have a hydration station for thirsty Corgis midway through the Walk.  Zupan's Markets donates the water for the hydration station. DL and Corgi Rescue volunteers oversee the hydration station.



Thanks to Mariellen Meisel this year's raffle is better than ever.  Local merchants have been generous in donating a large variety of high-end items.   We have tickets to the Oregon Ballet, Artist Rep Theater, Portland Center Stage, certificates to ice cream parlors, restaurants, pet stores, doggy salons, doggy hotels, pottery from a well-known Eugene sculptor, photography session with Alicia Dickerson of Four-Legged Photo, handmade needlepoint pillow of Corgi, dog treats and toys, bio bag poop bags, books, and more.

This year we have two levels of raffle items:

Level 1:
baskets with a combination of items with a total value of $100-$125. Tickets will sell for $3 each (or 4 tickets for $10)

Level 2
items with a value greater than $125.  Tickets will sell for $5 each (or 5 tickets for $20).

Cash/check only for raffle tickets.

The raffle will take place before the Walk and immediately following the Walk.  Winners will be announced at the end of the Walk by Abby Gied.

Jan Harvey is again setting up the raffle table for us.


This year we will have a breeders' table where you can talk to breeders and learn about pems and cardis.  Donna Newton and Carol Schroeder from the Corgi Club are overseeing the table.  Both Cardi and Pem breeders will be available to answer all of your questions.


We will have representatives from Corgi Rescue (Trish Olsen) and DL (Abby Crouch) available to answer questions about each organization and the services they provide.


This year's walk will be photographed by Portland's top pet photographer Alicia Dickerson of Four-Legged Photo.  The photos will be used for the 2013 Corgi Walk in the Pearl Event Calendar being designed by Kathryn Hathaway of Hathaway Designs.

The cost of the calendar is $12 and you may order one at the Walk this year.

The calendar will also be sold in pet stores and Powell's Bookstore.
