Jelly Talks and Group-Think

From: Bryan K.
Sent on: Friday, January 23, 2009 6:34 PM
Hey Co-Workers! Just wanted to announce a few new "features" of Jelly LA. Scan for the bold headers, and read more if your interested. Four topics are covered.

JELLY TALKS

As some of you may know, Jelly LA is just one of many Jellies around the world, all inspired by the original New York group. Amit Gupta, one of Jelly's founders, and Yahoo! (and tons of others I am sure) helped organize Jelly Talks starting next week on January 30.

While Jelly Talks will not occur during our MeetUp times (at least not initially), the Talk will be broadcast over the web for all to see at 11am PST. I'll get you guys and gals a link once I have one. Read more on Jelly Talks on the Jelly wiki.

GROUP-THINK SESSIONS

Today's Jelly LA turned into a brainstorming session for Karen Campbell's business. And, while this cut down on Adrienne and my productivity, it was great for Karen to get out of her head, and into ours! SO...

Group-Think is now a part of Jelly LA! But, of course, there will be some rules and restrictions to make sure everyone can still get their own work done:

  • To minimize group disruption, you must schedule a Group-Think Session with me at least three days in advance of Jelly LA
  • Sessions will be limited to one hour of public discussion max, preferably near the start or end of Jelly LA (feel free to break into a smaller group if you'd like to continue the conversation).
  • No one will be signing NDAs, so don't bring up a topic unless you will disclose all details and want it discussed publicly.

SPACE AND RSVPS

Funnel Mill has seats for 20, and the section they reserve for us comfortably seats eight (six on couches; two on rocking chairs). Now that we have over 20 members, it's important that anyone wishing to attend at least RSVPs "Maybe" if they'd like to attend, so I can ensure you a seat. (Technically, RSVP means "Respond either way, 'Yes' or 'No,'" but we're not that formal, so a "No Response" does not save you a seat if we're booked solid.)

We will be expanding to larger spaces and more days once there is a demand. But for now, eight seats are what we have, and I'd appreciate everyone's understanding and courtesy.

THANKS...

For joining this MeetUp, coming to Jelly LA, and just simply showing some interest in building community, staying motivated, and meeting new people.

Once we start consistently filling these eight Funnel Mill seats, I plan some happy hours...FIRST ROUND ON ME!

I hope to see you all soon,

Bryan
