Announcing a new Meetup for THE DENVER TRAIL HEADS!

What: Thunder Lake Exploratory Hike (RMNP)

When: Saturday, October 16,[masked]:45 AM

Price: $1.00 per person

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

Thunder Lake

I haven't done this trail before but I hear the lake is really nice. The trail is mostly through trees but the lake is in a nice clearing with dramatic cliffs all around. Note that this is a long hike. We will probably stop at Oskar Blues in Lyons after the hike.

Trail Details

Starting Elevation: 8,500'
Elevation at highest point: 10,676'
Elevation Gain: 2,176'
Difficulty: Moderate
Distance: 13.6 Miles round trip.
Dogs: No

Weather is unpredictable at these elevations, be prepared for anything.

Carpool Location

We will meet at the park-n-ride at 88th and Sheridan at 7:45. I will be at the north end of the lot. Look for my red Saturn. Everyone is encouraged to carpool as parking at the trailhead is limited. Those participants up north should make carpool arrangements among themselves.

Trailhead Location

Wild Basin area. I want to leave the trailhead by 9AM.

Rules for the Trail

These trips are all-day events, no promises are made about being back by a certain time.
Note on your RSVP if you do not intend to meet at the carpool location.
Get to the carpool location/trailhead early--we do not wait for late arrivers.
Print out directions to trailhead even if you don't intend to drive--we don't know who will end up driving.
Be ready to go when you get to the carpool location--have car gassed up, snacks, water, cash for driver, etc--no stops between the carpool location and the trailhead.
If you need to go back right after the hike, make your carpool arrangements accordingly.
Wait at trail junctions for the group, out and back--the organizer will take headcounts here.
You may not deviate from the stated route without the prior consent of the organizer.
After the hike, wait for the organizer at the trailhead--the organizer will take headcounts here to make sure everyone made it back.
After the hike, drivers are not to leave the parking area until everyone that rode with them is accounted for.
The organizer reserves the right to choose a restaurant after the hike--you may not choose a different place from that which the organizer chooses.
No-showing for any event jeopardizes your chances of going on future events with this group.

This is a participate at your own risk event.
