New Meetup next week: (Almost) Full Moon & Cardio Hike: Mathews Winters Park

Announcing a new Meetup for THE DENVER TRAIL HEADS!

What: (Almost) Full Moon & Cardio Hike: Mathews Winters Park

When: Tuesday, October 19,[masked]:45 PM

Price: $1.00 per person

Where: see description

The (nearly) full moon will be out this evening, so let's go Matthews/Winters.

Try to arrive by 5:40 and let's try to start at 5:45pm. Sunset is 6:13 and twilight ends at 6:41, so we will be hiking in the moonlight. Bring a headlamp just in case it gets cloudy. (If you're late, catch up)

I'm planning 4.2 miles. We'll take the Village Walk trail to the Red Rocks Trail then loop back on the Morrison Slide to Red Rocks and Village Walk. Elevation change? Approx. 800 feet. Park map. Read about the hike here.

$2 donation ($1 to paypal for the group fund, $1 to the organizer on hike day is appreciated)

The hike is limited in size because the parking lot is limited in size.

Directions from JeffCo Web site: From I-70 or U.S. Highway 40, go south on Colorado Highway 26 (Morrison exit) approximately 0.1 mile and turn right at the park entrance. (It's across from the Stegasaurus parking lot) Map to trailhead. Right click on green arrow.

No dogs please.

Hiking is risky. Every year people are hurt and killed because they go beyond their abilities, get lost, or bring the wrong gear. I spend hours researching hikes and rely on various sources, but I can't vouch for their accuracy. I am not a professional guide, you are responsible for yourself. By signing up for this hike you acknowledge that you are solely responsible for your own safety and will do the necessary research to understand the conditions of this hike and the gear you require. Anyone choosing to hike with our group should carry personal medical insurance and a CORSAR (Colorado Outdoor Recreation Search and Rescue) card in case of an emergency.
