From: Debbie
Sent on: Sunday, December 26, 2010 1:16 PM
Did you make a New Year's Resolution to hike more? Well, you should have! Let's start with an afternoon hike in Boulder.

What: Afternoon Hike- Homestead/Towhee Loop (south of Boulder)

When: Monday, January 3,[masked]:00 PM

Price: $1.00 per person

Where: see description

This hike is weather dependent. If it's really cold or snowy I will cancel the day before.

Meet at the South Mesa Trailhead on Eldorado Springs Road (between Boulder & Arvada). See this map. Zoom in until you see the green arrow. Right click on the green arrow for directions.

We're going to take the Homestead trail to the Mesa trail, explore a little, then take the Towhee trail back down. Expect about 3.5 miles with an elevation gain of 850 feet. Read about the hike here.

While the hike is short, it's not easy and it's not for beginners. There are a lot of stairs here.

Distance: 3.5 ish
Elevation gain: 850 feet
Dogs: None today please
Donation: $1 to the organizer
Gear: Bring a headlamp, we'll be coming down as it gets dark.

Got questions? Email me: [address removed]

Denver Hiking Examiner, read my trip reports here

Hiking is risky. Every year people are hurt and killed because they go beyond their abilities, get lost, or bring the wrong gear. I spend hours researching hikes and rely on various sources, but I can't vouch for their accuracy. I am not a professional guide, you are responsible for yourself. By signing up for this hike you acknowledge that you are solely responsible for your own safety and will do the necessary research to understand the conditions of this hike and the gear you require.
