We consciously perceive less than one trillionth of the reality in which we live. Each of our senses is a doorway through which we see the world, a doorway with invisible edges, massively compressing the infinite complexity of the universe into a manageable finite form.
With such tiny doors of perception, what do we really know about our selves? How can art, science, music, and thought experiments exploit these doorways, giving us insight into the ways we perceive, and how might these insights change and benefit our experience of life? Can we become conscious of our doors of perception, and potentially see beyond them?
Jeff Lieberman explores connections between the arts, sciences, education, creativity, perception, meditation and consciousness. He builds sculptures that explore our unseen interconnectedness and interdependence. He hosted 'Time Warp' on the Discovery Channel, reminding us how little our senses detect and understand about reality. He plays in the duo Knolls with Eric Gunther. Having finished four degrees at MIT, he is exploring how the evolution of consciousness can end suffering. More at bea.st (http://bea.st/).
