So you've got your first or second job as a Junior Developer. You’ve been slinging code for a little while now, but how do you take the next step? Join Pearl Chen, Trudy MacNabb, Jon Salis and Jasna Todorovic as they discuss their thoughts and experiences on how to best grow as a junior developer and how to foster your junior’s growth. The panelists will also offer advice on the best ways to start and accelerate your career path as a dev and their thoughts about the role of mentorship in and outside of the workplace.

From HTML to LEDs, Android to Arduino — Pearl Chen takes on a cross-disciplinary approach to her work. With over 10 years of professional experience in building interactive experiences, Pearl currently works independently as a developer/designer/educator.
Pearl's goal is to raise the bar for technology education by creating engaging and effective educational user experiences. Pearl has worked with Intel, Google, TELUS, Ladies Learning Code, and CFC Media Lab. Pearl also runs electronics and web development workshops under the umbrella of her own company, Karma Laboratory (http://www.karma-laboratory.com).
When not teaching or working with clients, Pearl's side hustle is a hardware+software startup to help simplify navigation for cyclists and explorers.

Trudy MacNabb (@dear_trudence (https://twitter.com/dear_trudence))
Trudy is a passionate back-end developer. She is an active member of the development community. When she is not busy learning she enjoys teaching others as a lead mentor at Hacker You (http://hackeryou.com/) and instructor with Ladies Learning Code (http://ladieslearningcode.com/). Trudy has also set out to share her passion for Ruby on Rails as one of the organizers of Rails Girls Toronto (http://railsgirlsto.com/). When she is not building the internet she is exploring her interest in dance parties, tomatoes, and public transportation.

Jon Salis
Jon is a software developer with a decade of experience and has focused on Ruby and Rails for the past five years. After working as the lead developer for an Ontario natural gas company, Jon joined the Functional Imperative (http://www.functionalimperative.com) team as a senior Ruby developer. When he's not contributing to open source projects or giving guest lectures at local colleges, you can find Jon having a beer after a competitive hockey game.

Jasna is a full-stack developer for Muse: the Brain Sensing Headband. She loves javascript, hates software magic, and believes strongly in human-centered development.
She runs most of Muse's web-related endeavours, from company websites and e-commerce integrations to developing exciting new web products.
Outside of work, she tweets about software, dances swing & blues, paints swirly things, and has a soft spot for fine single-malt Scotch.
