Project Night

DFW Pythoneers Project Night is an opportunity to get together informally with other Python enthusiasts and work on any project of interest, whether it be open source, job-related, or even just trying tutorials.

Beginners are welcome, and we'll have at minimum one experienced Python developer volunteering to assist if anyone gets stuck or needs recommendations about where to start.

Likewise even the more experienced developers get stuck on things sometimes, so it's often helpful to have someone else around to bounce ideas off.

Unlike other meeting formats we've tried in the past, the emphasis here is on productivity rather than socializing. This means attendees may be scattered around various different tables, and many might appear rather non-social as they focus on their laptop rather than the people around.

The restaurant is hidden by trees. It's at the SE corner of Warren and Gaylord, E of the Tollway. We meet in the back meeting room, it's visible from the door. Bring your laptop with whatever code, data, etc... you want to work on, sometimes the WiFi is iffy, but there are power outlets. I normally don't reserve the room, Thursdays nights are usually dead slow. Please order a drink or meal, these folks are nice and appreciate the business.

    See Ya!

Opps it's WEST of the Tollway. And the big empty field north of Warren accross the street is where the Cowboys are moving their HQ,

I'm going to work on refreshing my knowledge of binary packaging a Python project with a python interpreter for distributing to people without Python. I've used py2exe on the PC and py2app on the Mac, but also need to find an equivalent on Linux. This is in preparation of the Ludum Dare game jam coming up a week from Friday.

If you're not busy getting ready for PyTexas this weekend, drop by for Project Night, grab a burger, write some code, and talk some Python. I'll be working on the most recent code challenge and testing some ideas with pandas...
