Hey DASC! All Hands on Deck!!
Let's get rejuvenated for the end of the summer and ready for the nice Fall diving and boating conditions.
The DASC boat will need a pit stop after these hot summer days and steady activity. We will do some much needed maintenance and go through the boat and trailer with a fine-tuned wrench! Tools and parts will be supplied. We'll also be re-organizing the lockers and sprucing up the DASC storage lot at Campland.
If you can't donate time and effort, please consider contributing a very small donation of $5 or $10 to help us with the replacement parts cost (oil, chains, anchor guide, trailer roller, bow rub rail, etc.). Donate as usual through the website.
RSVP and we'll let the gate know who is coming and to give directions to the boat if your first time here. Family is welcome to enjoy Campland's beach, game room and facilities whilst you work.
Once the chores are done, I'll be enjoying lunch and sodas in the Cantina...please join.

Let's go to Terraces then decide whether we drop down on another reef, a kelp patch, or a wreck on the way back to dock.
Please have your mind, body, and gear in fine working order, assembled and ready to go prior to loading. Cast off is at 9am.
Suggested donation for this trip is $50.00 as it is a longer ride.
Have your DASC membership card and proof of dive insurance with you.
Bring water to hydrate.

Hunting tolerated unless you get slime and guts everywhere. Must show valid hunting license to boat operator before loading gear onto the boat.
First 48 hours after announcement gives priority seating to current Operators-in-Training wanting more experience in open water and those members who haven't been on a trip in the past 30 days. I'll manage the waitlist to ensure.
Après dive in the Campland Cantina for those who assist in post-dive boat cleaning.

2 Tanks at Train Wheels.

Since we will launch from SHELTER ISLAND, there aren't really any other sites to hit on the way home, but there is a lot to see around the wheels, cracks, walls, etc. And, if we miss the wheels on the first dive, we'll find them on the 2nd!
With distance and current expenses, a 55$ donation is requested for this unique and special site.

ADVANCED DIVE: Depth is over 90fsw. The wheels are in an overhead environment with only one way out and very high potential for silting if you don't have perfect buoyancy! And it is dark. If you want to do one long advanced soak, with proper kit, cert, abilities, etc. (since we aren't switching sites) that's fine, probably what I'm going to do!

Required equipment: 2 working/charged dive lights, SMB and skills to deploy. This site is in a high boat traffic area off the tip off Point Loma. If you don't find the anchor line, you need to be seen on the surface, and on your deco/safety stop so operator can find you! Both surface and underwater currents can be expected off the tip of Point Loma where the wheels are located. I chose this day due to the flat tides, so that helps.
