Drupal Ladder - Learn AND Issues Sprint

Join us on Tuesday, April 22nd @TaotiCreative for the next Drupal Ladder meetup!  We'll be doing both LEARN and ISSUE sprints going on at the same time and place.  The more novice developers can join the LEARN group while the more experienced can focus on Drupal 8 core issues or even contrib modules if preferred.

Novice Devs / Learn Sprint Participants:

To get the most out of the event (and to ensure everyone else does too), please come prepared!  That means you should bring a laptop that is ALREADY SET UP with a working installation of Drupal 8.  If you need help, there are some resource links below, or feel free to contact us in advance.  But we won't have time at the event to help individuals get their computer set up.  If you don't have that much, you're welcome to come and observe, but again, so that we can move others up the ladder, we don't want to use precious meetup time just installing software.

To get set up, download and install Drupal Pro:

If you prefer, you can also install the Acquia Dev Desktop using this step-by-step guide:

Experienced devs, contributors and project maintainers:

We could use help preparing a list of issues to work on at the event. Please contact Aaron if interested.

More about the Event

Our host Taoti Creative will provide pizza and beer (and softdrinks).  You can eat, drink and be merry from 6:30 to 7, but at 7 (sharp!), we'd like to get down to business.  These events usually last about 1.5-2 hours, but you are of course free to come and go as you please.

To get the most out of this sprint we encourage everyone to visit the Drupal 8 issue queue in advance and look for issues that you would be interested in working on. Please have your development environment set up and ready to go so we can hit the ground running.

Recruiters: this is a working event and not an appropriate place to just come and socialize or recruit.  Please stick to our monthly events at Stetson's.

Need more info? Call Taoti at 202.546.8946.

Please note, Taoti's offices are secured after hours and require an escort to gain access.  We'll have Taoti personnel making round trips to the lobby from 6:30 to 7ish.  However, if you arrive after 7pm, you can call our office and someone will come get you.  202.546.8946.

And please don't forget to RSVP so that we can put your name on the building security list (and so that we know how much pizza to order.)

Hope to see you there!

i accomplished everything I wanted to go. Now, if someone would create a module for Adobe Tag Manager (formerly Satellite), I'll be all set.

Everyone (and Aaron esp) thank you for all your help - this was useful and I will definitely attend another one, and keep working on the ladder in the meantime.

I had a good time and learned quite a bit from the more experienced folks who attended/hosted the event. Definitely worth attending and plan to join more often.

  • Lindsey K. was down toward the latter end, which affected my experience. Ultimately I learned a lot which made me happy :)

Although the D8 repo didn't come up for me this time, I loved helping some of the many aspiring learners that came in. I hope we inspired some of them to greater ambitions with Drupal.
