Trash Tour

We will explore the area’s wasted food and other goods, and gather food for our freegan beach party and vegan BBQ 2 days later (Aug 13). We give advice on how to salvage these goods and comment on the reasons for such waste. Media WILL be welcome with appointment. When & Where? Meet at 9pm on the northwest corner of Court Street and Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights (Borough Hall stop on many subway lines).

This was very informative, incorporating things I already knew and underscoring how wasteful our capitalist society can be. The leaders of the tour knew exactly where to dive and Plus, I scored some awesome raspberries and blackberries!

EXCELLENT. Scored lots of perfectly fresh and edible free food. The most sickening thing was NOT digging through the trash, but seeing the amount of good food wasted by these establishments.

For Marianna and anyone else who shows up late to events or just wants to explore on their own, please check out the trash directories. They are in the "documents" section here on meetup, or look on the freegan.info web site (which is back up at long last. Yaay!). Here's the link to the Brooklhyn page; Brooklyn Heights locations are listed. http://freegan.info/?page_id=208
