Python Meetup (PUN)

  • Apr 18, 2013 · 7:30 PM

PUN Meetup[masked]
The next PUN meetup will be held on Thursday, April 18. The location is Fox-IT in Delft. Before we start of at 19:30, there will be dinner from 18:30 for all hungry Pythonistas. Please let Jasper Spaans ([masked]) know when you'll be joining us for dinner, and if you have any special dietary needs.

The format will be similar to other PUN meetups: we'll have two long talk slots (30 mins each) and several 5 minute lightning talks, separated by a short break to socialize, and a "borrel" afterwards. At 22:30, we'll have to leave the building.

If you are interested in giving a talk, please notify Jasper Spaans ([masked])

Nota bene: this meetup will be held at the Fox-IT offices, and this location has a house rule: any visitor must identify themselves (passport, id-card, Dutch drivers license, etc; see for details). For this process to happen without hiccups, I strongly recommend people to pre-register. The easiest way to do that is sending me a copy/scan of an ID document so that the front desk people here can put together a list of visitors so that night-staff during the PUN meeting know who to expect. (This whole identification stuff is actually required by law given the kind of work that Fox-IT does, and pre-registering is something we do for all our trainings and large groups of visitors. We won't spam you or sell your data.)

Very well organized meetup! Good food, drinks and talks. Although the location was not around the corner for me (it took me >1.5 hours to get there from my office/home), it was definitely worth the travel.

Fox IT thanks for hospitality. Good speakers, nice vibes. Forgot to ask Jasper Spaans why there would be more 1's then zeroes ;-) I had fun and learned some new stuff!

Good meetup. Some 40 people. Good food. I've made summaries of the talks: . I especially liked Jeroen's talk on open source marketing.

      - Jeroen Vloothuis, no title yet, but I do have an abstract in Dutch:
Laat je open source bijdrage niet voor niks zijn,
of hoe je project de verdiende aandacht te laten krijgen

      - Ronald Evers, Dev'ing at Fox, how do they do it

I've also got three lightning talks ready:

      - Jan-Jaap Driessen, Fanstatic 1.0a
      - Rui Guerra, museum-analytics
      - Jasper Spaans, A talk about nothing

Trying to figure out this Python thing...

A meeting like tonight's gives you a pretty good idea about python and the community, so it is a good time investiment (and lots of fun and friendly).
