The "PEAKS" philosophy guides this group to have fun, be safe and become friends. We enjoy Gourmet Potlucks, and play anywhere in the outdoors, be it in the mountains, on the water or in the air. We mostly hike and snowshoe, scramble and ski, occasionally sail and kayak, fly, and perhaps travel together to exotic adventurous places around the world.
Please remember, our organizers are not guides. We are not professional trainers or experts. You are responsible for your own safety and your preparation for the events. You need to be properly equipped for all weather conditions, un-anticipated delays by other participants or for whatever reason, and have the skill level necessary to participate.
All participants must have a Waiver ( http://files.meetup.c...) on file. By signing up for an event, you certify that you have signed and delivered the Waiver. Regardless of the waiver mentioned above, by joining as a members of ePeaks meetup Group, or joining in an event, you assume responsibility for yourself and your guests. While novices are welcome, you should know your own limitation. Also, you agree to the "Meetup terms of service and conditions" . You can not be a minor to sign up with us.
We want everybody to enjoy this and all participants need to help the organizers to keep it simple. Thus:
A: Show up on time, or call/cancel in time. Others may want to go. Call, don't just TEXT.
B: Come equipped for the event! Have your 11 essentials!
C: Stay together, or make sure if the group splits into two, each has a leader with experience.
D: Be safe and make sure others are too! If you are not comfortable on an event, speak up and ask for help.
E: Pay gas money to the driver.
F: Share snacks and help other to make it fun for everybody.

How to get on a trip: We do not invite everybody into the group or onto events, as too many people make it impossible to enjoy the outdoors and keep it safe. We try to invite people with the same speed, goals and skill levels, and sometimes some novices to start learning as well.
We are slow but steady and do adventures hikes, scrambles and trips. We get there, and are not afraid of coming back late with flash lights. We are equipped and care for everybody to have a good time and come home safely.
Different organizers will handle sign-ups in different ways, and depending on the event. Some are open events, others are for the people who already have proven their abilities, or are known to the organizer. So if you are waitlisted, some core group members may get preferential invitations, till we know you better. Some are kid and dog friendly events, others are not. I hope you understand.
The ***Star System: Some trips are *** or more. Unless you have proven yourself to the event host or within the group on easier trips, you may not be invited along. We have organized numerous trips with people joining that had beautiful resumes, such as: Rainier, Mt. St. Helen, Adams, etc. It became very quickly clear that they didn't know how to use an ice ax properly, didn't know how to self arrest, didn't know how to mount their crampons, etc. They wouldn't be able to find their way to the top of Snoqualmie Peak in adverse conditions without getting lost. We "Trust but Verify" members abilities before taking them on advanced or overnight trips. Zero Star means you are new and no waiver has been signed.
Preferential Sign-Ups: Everybody signs up on a waitlist. But it is up to the organizer to decide who they want to hike with and/or fits the trip and team. Obviously, current friends and more active members are pulled in first. While this makes it a little more difficult to link up with this group, it makes this group more nicer to hike with once "in", because they all do become friends, and afterall, we do not provide an occasional guide service, not just train people for "Rainier". We want to play together all the time instead.
So… Welcome and enjoy the group and its volunteer organizers.
