From the "What Do You Want From The BSC Housing Fair?" survey,
Why you love coops-
" I love intentional community and think it is such a special thing. I'm terrified of living in a studio."
"Saves money and resources. Community."
"I'm interested in the possibility because that's the way I've been living for about three years. I'm also interested in exploring other options."
"I love living in community, it's more human, fun, fresh, efficient."
"I would absolutely be interested in that. It makes me a little sad that I am not able to continue living in the co-ops once I graduate (aside from the one extra semester)."
"because of affordability"
"I think coops will save the world (I'm only half kidding)"
"I loved my experience in the BSC"
"Cost and Efficiency, but especially Politics and Community."
"because of the interesting individuals in the co-ops and the cheap rent"
"I am not done with cooperative living, plain and simple :p"
"since it it is a good source of community support and makes sense environmentally and financially."
Your housing concerns-
"Where are the adult co-ops? How do I find them? Specifically, Bay Area, Washington DC, Sacramento co-ops"
"Costs, provide low income housing info"
"Affording it. Finding it. Actually being able to live in a coop." "Who's out there. What are they doing. How do I get involved with them. How did they start. What do most people do after they graduate with local housing"
"My concerns are not finding affortable housing out here and being homeless for some time. It's happened before and I don't like living out of my car."
"Where to find other housing cooperatives, how to start a housing cooperative."
"Only concern is availability of food post-BSC housing."
"Wow, if I wasn't moving back home after graduating, I would be so overwhelmed with finding housing right now. It's so hard! :'(" "Information about what options are available to low-income just graduated students would be great, such as references to specific housing locations or organizations in the general Bay Area."
"Where to live"
"Don't know how to find other cooperative housing in the Bay Area"
"how to find/create intentional community outside of university context"
"i don't want to live by myself in an expensive place with no friends nearby"
"Still working on this one. I'm concerned mostly about living an isolated life, and high cost rents, and living with tech bros, though."
"Toxic house cultures, racism, drug culture"
"I live in a 4-person house in Oakland which is cool, but I miss the cooperative aspect (i.e. sharing food, responsibilities, social events, etc.)"
"How would the housing be set up? Who could live there? Where would the housing be?"
