About us
Myles Standish State Forest straddles Plymouth and Carver and is the size of the island of Manhattan, covering 25 square miles with many dozens of miles of hiking and bicycle trails allowing you to explore its 16 pristine ponds, four major campground areas with 400 campsites, a boy scout camp and several bordering wildlife management areas.
Few people have seen every corner of it. (Need a map? ) If you drive on Route 3 from the Cape or Route 495 in southeastern Massachusetts, you have probably passed within a few miles recently. Instead of getting stuck in bridge traffic, why not give it a try?
The Friends of MSSF have been around for 19 years. We celebrated the 100th anniversary of the park's founding in 2016 and our 18th annual Family Fishing Derby in 2025.
We lead many one to two hour hikes regularly during the year. Bird watching and other nature walks are scheduled in the spring and summer. We do trail work and other park support activities when we can.
We are approaching our 2500th Meetup since our group started using Meetup in 2009. Meetup just helps people get together by providing good maps and it allows a little flexibility in case the weather decides not to cooperate.
Clearly, a lot of people are having fun and we hope you will join us soon.
Also, please consider joining our Friends group. The Friends of Myles Standish State Forest, Inc. is a 501 c3 charity. Visit the Friends of Myles Standish web page to find out more about us.
