  • Jun 30, 2011 · 6:00 PM

Hi Gluggers,

After a short break following on from the Village Underground event we're pleased to be able to confirm the next Glug event will be held @ Cargo on Thursday 30th June, this time with a bit of a music twist!

Every wondered how a music video is put together? Well ask yourselves no more! For this special event we've assembled a brilliant collection of director's, producers, and commissioners to talk you through from of their stunning work and the creatives process.

Here's the lineup:

Dan Henshaw

Director (SkinFlicks.tv)

http://www.danhenshaw.co.uk/

Dan's a brilliant young director who's worked on various lovely vids for artists including - The View, Paolo Nutini, Roll Deep and The Metros. He's also done some really interesting work with brands (see Kasbabian Football Hero).

The Found Collective

Mike Sharpe, Marcus Moresby & Barney Steel

Director / Producers

http://www.thefoundcollective.com/

The Found Collective are a team of director / producer / animators based out of Hoxton. Again very much a new up and coming outfit they'll be showcasing their work for Ladytron, Pendulum and also showing off some new exclusive unseen project that we're not allowed to talk about yet!

Henry Scofield

Director (Partizan)

http://www.partizan.com/partizan/musicvideos/?henry_scholfield

Again a brilliant young Director signed to Partizan. Henry's worked with Professor Green, Labrinth, Kano and Example. He'll be talking about these projects and also just generally about life as an up and coming Director.

Mike O'Keefe

Head of Video - Sony Music Uk

http://www.sonymusic.co.uk/

What Mike hasn't seen in his 20+ years working on Music Videos you don't need to know!  He'll be talking about the commissioning process and also some of the key projects he's worked on.

Although some of the content was good the event was over subscribed for the venue. If you are paying for an event you shouldn't be straining to hear the speaker and barely see the screen due to overcrowding.

Hiya, it was a little bit disappointing. Alot of media backslapping and poor quality of video shown FLV the day before and 9GB compression from the leaders in this field..! Amature. If Id of wanted to watch lots of legendary pop promo's from the day with middle aged men I'd of stayed at home and looked in the mirror. Less boose for the presenters and more crowd participation please. Hope you can take this on the chin..?

    Hi Caroline,
sorry we didn't hook up. I got a bit trapped in the back room till the end.
Simply email [masked] with any treatments / colaboration ideas you might have :D. It seems I have somewhat Hi-jacked this comments area. Just to put it back on Glug : here are my personal highlights of the work shown https://dragontape1.appspot.com:443/v/3302081-noel_s_glug_music_video_favs

    Enjoy

Great mix of experienced music producers/directors and new talent. Especially good to see the progress of a start up like The Found Collective who seem destined for the top.
On another note if you know of anyone who wants a junior graphic designer check out simondormer.co.uk - I'm after a new home (shameless plug over)

Great event, especially finding out about the pitching process. Would be great to hear more personal opinions/ views on the events subject - so we can get a bit more insight. All in all another great glug!

Fantastic event, standing room only in the live arch. I really enjoyed the talks and the music videos. Seeing the art in context and explained by the people who made it was really interesting.

to be honest i thought the speakers would talk more about the process of making the videos, the marketing of them, and with new directors - how did they get picked up? What did they do? What was their background? It just felt like it was people showing off their work and not really talking about it. for people trying to get into companies as directors and producers, i didnt really feel it was helpful. why not even have speakers of people not yet with labels who are trying to make videos on small budgets? That would be interesting to see how they do it, and see examples.
