Friday night at the Highland Golf &Graze or Hack & Snack event we had a total of 7 "no shows." That has never happened before where so many golfers failed to show up for an event. This was only the second golf event of the season that has been held because of the weather, so I was shocked by that number!
I thank all those who did show up. Unfortunately, the "no show" folks have now created a dilemma for all those good folks who do show up. Because of the "no shows" Friday night, and starting with Friday night, if a golfer has two "no shows" they will be removed from the group.
Unlike other Meetups where its generally fine to decide at the last minute not to go to an event, golfing is different. I was lucky that I didn't have to pay for those who didn't show up...if I had to have paid that would've been $126 out of my own pocket and I don't think anyone would like that to happen to them. Sooo that now penalizes everyonefor future events that I set up.
When I (Sue) set up an event from now on, there will be a $10 deposit required. You'll get that money back after showing up for the golf event. A 24 hour cancellation will also be required to get a refund. If you don't show up the money will not be refunded and it'll be considered a donation to keep this group going. If you've been golfing with me in the past, if I know you and I know you'll show u,p I'll refund your money right away. Other organizers of this group can choose to do it differently, but if the course has a prepay policy or a pay for no show policy, I'm not going to get stuck paying for someone who doesn't show up.
The removal from the group after several no shows and the deposit were part of a discussion we had Friday night amongst those of us who golfed and went out to dinner afterwards.
No some of you some of you may want to rethink if this is the group for you. I for sure will understand if you choose to leave. This is a golf group and golfers know that not showing up is bad etiquette.
