Jamie Bliss: We don't need no stinking SQL
If you have seen an object requiring a dozen tables to store, or even entire databases devoted to simple tasks like tags, then it's time to explore the world of NoSQL. Jamie, having barked his shins on a few of the datastores available, will be discussing NoSQL systems - in particular the Key-Document stores MongoDB (http://www.mongodb.org/) and CouchDB (http://couchdb.apache.org/). What do they do for you and what can't they do? What's all this hype about? And why is the coffee so terrible? Some of these questions may be answered.
Adam Tauno Williams: Postgres can do NoSQL too!
More details coming soon!
GiveCamp Wrap-up
A few of your fellow GRPUGgers were lucky enough to team up on a continuing project at last weekend's Grand Rapids GiveCamp (http://grgivecamp.org/). The project is a Django application for Thrive: A Refugee Support Program (http://www.refugeesupportgr.com/). We'll be talking about the GiveCamp experience as well as a few of the tools and techniques we used.
