Magic Methods and Dataclasses

The Factory

This month, we'll be covering two different ways to build your own custom Python class. Ben Rousch will give us a refresher on Python's "magic" methods and how they are used to add behavior to a class by implementing various protocols. Jace Browning will show us the new "dataclass" feature in Python 3.7 that lets you write simple custom classes with just a few lines of code. He'll also introduce us to type annotations (that power dataclasses) along the way. Afterward the talks, anyone is welcome to join us for drinks and dinner at the nearby HopCat brewery.
