An Introduction to Spark & Red Sqirl

Details

We have three very interesting presentations for the evening:

An introduction to Spark. Uli Bethke, Sonra.

• Why Spark?
• The Spark ecosystem
• Spark alternatives
• Spark limitations

Text analytics with Spark on MapR and Vertica. A case study. Antonio Zornoza.

An Introduction to Red Sqirl. Étienne Dumoulin, Idiro Analytics.

Today, the biggest challenge for Big Data adoption is people. Big Data technology is efficient, flexible and cost effective, but it needs highly trained people for developing new tools and analysing data. Today, companies are training thousands of people to use and develop on specific tools that have an unknown lifespan. Red Sqirl is a Hadoop web-based framework platform, ecosystem independent, that addresses this issue. The principle is simple: technology specialists - the few - develop and support drag-able items while users design data processes and run them.
In this presentation I will demonstrate this new platform and explain the trial programme that we are undertaking.
