Description: Join me in the foothills of Auburn for an intermediate walk up and down the MANY hills that make this the foothills! We will walk up to 6 miles in about two hours on a mix of trail, roads and sidewalks, so wear good walking shoes hiking boots. The route will vary each week, and will include LOTS of hills! Bring one to two liters of water. Bring a flashlight for after-dark hikes.

Expectations: Beginners are welcome. Sometimes there may be one section that is optional. This would be an out & back at the midpoint of this hike. You can recover at the top of the hill while the rest hike to the bottom of the hill and back up -- about 20 minutes. I will wait with you.

Trailhead Directions: RAILHEAD PARK IN AUBURN. From Sacramento/Roseville, travel east on I-80. Take the Maple St. exit. Go straight up and through a stop sign, and then straight through a signal light. You are now on Auburn/Folsom Rd., and you just passed the historic courthouse on your right. Go through the next signal light (Auburn fairgrounds is on the left) and turn left at the next signal light at Pacific Ave. (If you come to Maidu Ave., you have gone too far.) Continue straight on Pacific until you see the parking lot for Railhead Park on your left. There are restrooms and a drinking fountain available at this park.

This is a non-smoking event. No dogs. Children who are able to walk 6 miles welcome. Pouring rain cancels. Heat of 90 degrees or above slows the pace.
