What we’re about
L.A. Hiking Group is for people looking to meet others interested in walking or hiking for exercise and attending other fun events such as stair climbing, trail running, bicycling, kayaking, skiing, river rafting, etc.
We also host BBQs, parties and other social gatherings. We may even go on exotic vacations, but mostly it is about having fun in the outdoors.
L.A. Hiking Group is a nonprofit public service organization. Lifting people up is our mission. Our event hosts, event organizers, assistant organizers and organizer ("hosts") are all volunteers.
We organize many outdoor adventures in greater L.A. and surrounding areas as well as hiking, camping and backpacking trips to national parks and wildernesses throughout California and other states. Our hosts have expertise ranging from beginner, intermediate to advanced level.
The hosts of L.A Hiking Group are not professional hike leaders. You are responsible for yourself. By signing up for our events, you agree not to hold the hosts of L.A. Hiking Group responsible for whatever happens to you over these events.
L.A. Hiking Group does not certify the expertise of our hosts and is NOT responsible for any possible losses and injuries, incidental or otherwise.
For safety and liability reasons, you MUST have a recent profile PHOTO clearly showing your face and carry a personal ID to participate in our events.

The 120 acres was purchased in 2013 by a somewhat humble Meetup hike leader to save the wildlife migration corridor between the Santa Susana mountains and the Simi hills.
It is home to at least 40 types of native flowers, trees and sagebrush, plus deer, bobcats, lizards, hawks, rattlesnakes and Mountain lions.
(For more info and photos etc: see mountrexmore.com)DISTANCE: 3 miles. Difficulty: moderate. Hike is all on trails and monkeying around on the nearby rocks is optional. Elevation gain is 600 feet.
THE USUAL STUFF: BRING ALL THE USUAL STUFF...I'M NOT YOUR MOM.... Bring clothing (sorry, nude hikes are a different Meetup group), 3 liters of water, hat, comfy shoes, snacks, guitar, all your troubles..., camera, etc
LEGAL STUFF: by going on this hike, you agree to assume all risks of hiking common in natural Los Angeles terrain, (such as wild animals, poison oak, rocky unstable footing and ticks), and that you will hold no one at Meetup, including the organizer, responsible for your safety.
