Malibu Creek: Grassland Trail to Tapia County Park

Details

So, we all know about the MASH TV show site and the rock pool as being the premier attractions at Malibu Creek State Park, but here's a little secret: theres a lot more to check out! As cool as these places are, lets not limit ourselves and lets explore some other spots. The next couple hikes I'm doing will be doing is just that. There's so many combinations to do with all the other parcels of public land that are adjacent to MCSP.

This time, we will park along Mullholand (parkings free!) at the Grasslands trailhead. Just turn on Mullholand from Las Virgenes, and its basically right there. We will take the grasslands trail, and hike to the top of a hill, on a little spur trail to get one of, IMO one of the best views of the park. Then we will hike to Tapia County Park south of the main entrance.

No parking fees, and we will make this a "semi" potluck - as there are picnic tables at Tapia County park with large beautiful live oaks. Please bring a snack to share. You don't absolutely have to, but if you are going to help yourself to what others bring, please be courteous and bring a small snack too.

The trail itself round trip will be about five miles, and we'll be back no later than 3:00 - and probably earlier. It all depends on how long we want to hang out at the picnic tables. I really don't know exactly the elevation gain, but overall this will not be too ultra challenging. Basically its slightly less than the main MASH trail, but a little more elevation.

Use this to know where to park:

You know the drill, appropriate footwear, water, food (to share), sunscreen, dress for weather, some basic first aid.
