Dirt Mulholland to Topanga's Viewridge trail, rocks and caves, & MUSIC

Hike a future link in the Rim of the Valley trail system from Topanga State Park to the Ed Edelman-Topanga Summit park

The State Parks agencies are negotiating to purchase the land which includes this trail connection. I wrote more about this deal here:

DIFFICULTY: moderate. Length: 5 to 6 miles

ELEVATION GAIN AND LOSS: around 300 feet

DIRECTIONS: from Topanga Canyon Blvd. Go east on Mulholland and soon you run into a "T" intersection at Canoga Avenue. Turn right, then left immediately. (there is another Mulholland that dead ends really soon and you don't want to be on that one) Soon Mulholland turns into a wide dirt road. Follow this for a mile. At the top of the hill is a wide dirt parking area and a sign saying private road. This is Santa Maria Road. To the left is a gated dirt road--this is the continuation of Mulholland Drive into Topanga State Park. Park in the wide dirt area between Santa Maria Road and this gate, but do not block the gate.
