Charmlee Park in West Malibu...easy...overlooks the ocean, 4 miles or so

Charmlee Wilderness Park is 590 acres of the best of the Santa Monica Mountains Coastal Slope environment. The park includes picnic areas, eight miles of hiking trails, native plant displays, and a nature center.

Join us for an easy loop hike through rolling hills, shady oak trees, and have lunch at the rocky cabin ruins and take lots of photos of the shoreline from high cliffs above PCH.

(part of another of my hike double-headers...part 2 is rock scrambling at the end of Corral Canyon Road, from 3 to 6ish, followed by chow at the Corral Beach Cantina on PCH in Zuma))

Distance: around 4 miles with 200 feet maximum elevation gain

Good ol' Charmlee. Glad Bob Hope did not turn that place into a Golf Course. Thanks Rex

Hmm...does the first hike take us back to where we're parked. I'm not planning on going on the 2nd part of the hike...

the hikes are completely separate. When the Charmlee hike is done, if you plan to join in on my Corral Ridge rocks hike, you must drive about 15 miles to that trailhead.

      August 2, 2013

  • sondra

Do you need an adventure pass to park? Also if anyone is in the SFV and wants to carpool let me know.

    August 1, 2013

    • Rex Frankel; M.

no National Forest adventure pass is required. This is not part of the National Forest. But parking fee is $4

Looking forward to my first hike in the Santa Monicas,

Aline: this hike has no rock scrambling and is suitable for beginners. My hike later at Corral Ridge (3 pm) does have mild rock climbing, with no ropes required, though. I rate it at medium level of difficulty.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
