Details
Intermediate Hike Level 5 out of 10
Distance: under 6 miles round trip
http://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/7/9/9/c/event_213511132.jpeg
Time: under 3 hours.
Beginner's Conditioning OK (those beginners who are fairly fit, but new to hiking...because the distance is about 8 miles, true beginners should not come even though there is not a whole lot of climbing to do).
Attractions at Elysian Park: LA Police academy, Dodger's Stadium, the Jungle area where Tarzan was filmed and housed many previously historical Hang out spots to many of the Los Angeles' barrio gangs in the 70's. (Blvd. Nights, movie reference)
Directions: Going north on Broadway, turn left on Meadow Road. It is the entry way into the Park and very obvious as it looks different than any other side street. (green lawns and trees...no buildings) You will see a sign (plaque) on a large stone on your left on the ground that says Portola Trail.
This turn off is just before the bridge that goes over the LA River.\ Parking along the road on either side
This is sign at entrance to Park off Broadway

Attention:There will be Inclines, trails, fire roads, paved roads, one shot at climbing, NO jumping, some fast and slow walking. By many standards this is not a difficult hike, but I guarantee you will feel that you had a good workout nonetheless.
The destination and the "amount of stops" are at the discretion of the Hike leader totally.
Bring plenty of water and snacks. We will stop a picnic tables for a rest stop.
Dogs OK
WON KOK Restaurant in Chinatown after the hike for anyone interested. It is located at Alpine and Spring. They aren't fancy.....Prices are very reasonable, and they pour on the food.
