Fossil Ridge and Saddle Peak west of Topanga, lots of rocks to play on

Here's one for those that hate lots of elevation gain....

(cause it's going to be hot!)

We start on Saddle Peak Road at the beginning of the Fossil Ridge trail portion of the Backbone trail. We head west passing assorted old sea shell imprints in the rocks. Then we hit the saddle where three roads come together and head south and drop by about 150 feet to some rock formations no other hiking groups have gone to which are owned by the National Park Service. Then we head back up to the three roads-saddle and head further west to the summit of Saddle Peak (UP BY 500 FEET) . We get some shade on the uphill trail. Then we climb around on the rocks there including some on the Stunt High trail.

Then we return going east via the Backbone trail and Fossil ridge trails to our cars, bikes and skateboards.
