Lots of Rocks and 4 Hilly trails to Climb. We will climb a 40 FOOT TALL dry waterfall...and some climbing skill is required here. The dry waterfall is not straight up, but tilted, with ledges every few feet. I am bringing a rope to help here. Fellow monkeys may like to free-hand climb this one
WEATHER FORECAST IS 50% CHANCE OF MORNING RAIN: HIKE HAPPENS RAIN OR NOT
DIFFICULTY: medium; included rock scrambling and climbing a rocky hillside
LOCATION: go WEST OF TOPANGA CANYON BLVD. on Lassen Street for 1 mile until it ends at Oakwood Cemetery and turn left on Andora Avenue. To the left of the cemetery entrance is the trailhead.
THE ROUTE: We will first go to the labyrinth rock, climb around a bit, eat lunch, then climb the waterfall trail up to Mesa Road/Lilac lane using a rope, and follow Lilac Lane for a mile to the 118 freeway overpass. (elevation gain: 800 feet) We then Hike uphill again to the Rock Room and the peak above it (another 800 feet elevation gain). From there we go downhill through the wildlife corridor tunnel under the freeway and reach Corriganville park. Here there are porta-potties and drinking water. We will scale the scenic rocks (about 200 feet elevation gain), then drop down and hike up canyon on the Stagecoach trail to Lilac Lane. We then follow Lilac Lane up and over the hill (gaining 500 feet in elevation), and drop down past the Chatsworth History marker to our starting spot.
