Fun Hike - Advanced Beginners Griffith Park

This will be a 2 part hike....the first is easy, and the second partly intermediate

Part 1 - easy walk along L.A. River to the historic Hyperion Bridge built in 1928. Then back along bike path to Pony Rides area. Those who want to can get wet....there are little pools along the way where you could get in if you are interested. We will be with the ducks, geese and other water fowl. (about one hour of walking)

Part 2 - On our way back we cross one of the few pedestrian bridges (http://atwater-village.blogspot.com/2006/08/footbridge-over-muddled-water.html) to cross the L.A. River. This one is the Sunnynook Footbridge....from just before the Pony Rides area we ascend into the hills of GP, take the Los Feliz Firebreak to the Enchanted Forest. There we rest and eat snacks and enjoy our break. Then we head for Joe Klass Water Spot, then to 5 points, and then down the road back to PL #2. Time: 2.5 hours total

Distance: 5 miles

Elevation Gain: approx. 500 feet.

Meeting Place: Parking Lot #2 at the Steps (north of the Merry Go Round) - see map

Caution: Recommend you enter the Park from the Los Feliz entrance. This is the southern entrance. The north entrance is blocked unless you come by the alternate route by Travel Town. But that may confuse some of you, so stick with Los Feliz.
