It's time to hike Mt Wilson again! I joined meet up a year ago this month and did this as my first hike. Talk about jumping in feet first! I did this hike with the Los Angeles Hike Group and Paul lead the hike. It rained the entire way up and most of the way back. It was believe it or not a great hike... wet and cold, but still a great hike! We will proceed up the Upper Winter Creek trail to Hoagees and then head west up the trail to Manzanita Ridge. From here we will follow the ridge until we reach the Mt. Wilson toll road. We will follow the road the last few miles to Mt Wilson. The Cosmic Cafe is listed to be open until Nov. 27th!!!The menu is well rounded and pretty good too! DON'T count on this to be your only food source on this hike! After we have had enough time to eat and rest, we will take a brief tour of the summit and it's many observatories as we make our way to Sturtevant Trail for our return trip. 2 to 3 liters of water is highly reccomended for this hike regardlees of the weather. I will bring my water purifier incase we run low on water. Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather and to bring adequate food/snacks... This is an all day hike.
I am planing on being back at Chantry around 4:00 pm
We will meet in the north end of the REI parking lot, and will arrange carpools from there. An adventure pass is required to park at Chantry Flats.
