The L.A. Arboretum is where they shot the T.V.show Fantasy Island.The house in the above picture is called the Queen Anne House built in the late 1800's by Lucky Baldwin for his wife,it is also the house used in the opening scenes of Fantasy Island where Tattoo ran up and rang the bell and yelled out those famous words..DE PLANE..DE PLANE!
The Arboretum is a fascinating place with 6 distinct lands that represent the plants from those specific countries.The walk is 2.8 miles and its a mix of paved and dirt paths joining all of the separate areas.
There is a Restaurant, that will be open and a Gift shop.
The L.A. Arboretum got a lot of damage from the huge windstorm a couple of weeks ago so they kind of need some help.
It costs 8 dollars for adults and 5 dollars for children to enter the Arboretum.They would love us if we could help them out with a donation to help get the place back in shape but its not required.
So heres the event.
Meeting time and place..Sunday,January 8th at 10 a.m.At the Arboretum parking lot....free parking.
Admission..8 dollars for adults 5 dollars for children.
Walk...2.8 miles.
Duration..as long as you want to stay, the Arboretum closes at 5 p.m.
