Urban Hike - Silver Lake / Echo Park

This is an Urban Hike through neighborhoods going up and down public stairways and hilly terrain.

We will stop at end of our trek at the Red Lion Tavern on Glendale Blvd. in Silverlake for lunch. We will meet Tuck's urban hike group there too. The Red Lion, for those who do not know....is German food and German beer. Our ETA will be approx. 12:30 PM.

Meeting Place: Astro Family Restaurant Parking Lot - do not park in their lot

Meeting Time: 9:30 AM....we get started at 9:45 AM

Duration: 2 1/2 hours plus 1 hour to eat.

Distance: 7.5 miles

Hike Level: Intermediate not for beginners.

Bring water and wear good hiking/walking shoes.

Astro's is in Silver Lake at Fletcher (off the I-5) and Glendale Blvd. DO NOT PARK YOUR CAR IN ASTRO'S LOT...THERE IS PLENTY OF STREET PARKING

Tuck will plan a separate Urban Hike on this day, and we will converge at the Red Lion. He plans to continue on after lunch to do more hiking, but my group will be calling it a day at that point.

We will travel through Silver Lake over steps and hilly streets in the old neighborhoods, go along the old Pacific Electric RR route, under the Glendale 2 Freeway and along many streets to get to Elysian Park. We will go through some of the Park and head back through more stairs and streets to get to the Red Lion. It will be a good workout.
