This will be peak #2 in our quest to conquer all six of the toughest peaks in Southern California. Cucamonga peak is a strenuous hike of 11.5 miles and nearly 3,700 feet of elevation. As is my usual philosophy, we will be hiking at the slow-poke pace, and taking lots of breaks along the way.
Directions to the trailhead:Take the 210 to Upland and exit Mountain Avenue heading North into the Angeles National Forest. Follow Mountain Avenue to the intersection with Shinn Road - veer left. Continue to Mt. Baldy Road,Stay on this road until you come to Mt. Baldy Road, here you will need to make a right. Follow it past the Trout Pond, and look for the sign for Icehouse Canyon. Continue straight to the parking lot. From the main road you actually make a right turn, but you head straight in. (Lat:34.23899 Lon:-117.59435)
Warning: People have gotten lost because they mistakenly took Mountain Road in in Monrovia. You need to continue east all the way to the Mountain Road in Upland.
Afterward, for those who are interested, we can celebrate our accomplishment by enjoying some drinks and eats at the Baldy Inn Lodge restaurant in Mount Baldy Village.
