LENGTH: 10 MILES, GIVE OR TAKE, WITH SOME EXPLORATION OF STUFF NOT ON THE MAP
Wear long pants if you don't know how to avoid poison oak, as we'll be in a canyon that probably has it
THE PLAN: Park at the Phantom/Cistern Trailhead along Mulholland Highwway and hike down to the Meadow via the Cistern, then the Lookout, then the Deer Leg, then the Lake Vista trails and view Malibu Lake on the way to Paramount Ranch. These trails are mostly shaded.
We cross Mulholland and go north to the Old West Village at Paramount Ranch (an old movie studio ranch) and then up Coyote Canyon trail gaining 550 feet in elevation to the top and loop back on the Paramount ridge trail,
Then we head back to the Malibu Creek State park's Reagan Ranch meadow
HERE WE WILL BE CLOSE TO OUR CARS SO IF ANYONE WANTS TO BAIL ON THE SECOND HALF OF THE HIKE, I WILL NOT BE OFFENDED.
From the meadow, we take the Cage creek trail to Crags Road dropping down by 200 feet and go west to the MAS*H film site, then backtrack and and go to Century lake and finally, go further east on Crags road and drop down to the rock pool for a dip if you want it or some easy rock climbing like we do at Vasquez rocks.
2 pm to sunset, then we grab some grub at some place near the freeway----SUGGESTIONS?? Ladyface Alehouse is good and has a zillion kinds of beer.
There is also an Islands at the same corner.
BRING ALL THE USUAL STUFF, I'M NOT YOUR MOM....
Bring lots of water, hat, comfy shoes, snacks, all your troubles..., guitar, camera, etc
