By now, many of you have may have met me. I have only lived in LA for eights months now, but have explored fairly extensively through meetups as well as on my own, the wilds of greater Los Angeles. This is my first even I am posting.
I plan to do a very easy weekday hike in Franklin canyon twice a month. Fridays for now, but will likely change to a different day. For those of you who are looking for a quick, easy hike after a long day at work, but don't want to fight traffic to go far, Franklin Canyon is about as centrally located as one can get, yet it is relatively hidden. (Because you have to meander down residential streets). Drive down Lake Dr. about a quarter of a mile and you will see a trailhead.
Our regular hike will the Hastian trail from the trailhead up to the top of the ridge where you can see across "the hill" in both directions.
This would be considered a level 2-3 hike. Total elevation gain is about 600 feet. Total length is between 2.5 and 3 miles.
If people are interested, I have some ideas of where to grab a bite to eat afterwards to replace some calories.
