Trail description:

A 7.3 mile hike from the Pacific Palisades to a very popular overlook in Topanga State Park. The first part of this hike – the Los Liones Trail – is one of the most lush riparian canyons I’ve seen in the Santa Monica Mountains. It’s gently graded, moderately shady, and definitely worth a look particularly for the sunset. The trail meets up with the system of fire roads in Topanga State Park, and makes a relentless ascent to Parker Mesa (1525ft). On a clear day, you’ll get amazing views of the Santa Monica Bay, and often inland as far as the San Bernardino Mountains.

It was a pleasure to hike with a group of fun-loving and strong hikers. I want to thank all those who knew the trail for guiding fellow hikers along the way and Armond, our musical director, for providing the music. In particular, I want to thank Eric B for being a diligent and reliable sweep. You are the rock we lien on.

Hi Mike. If you still need assistance, I would be glad to help. I've been on that hike a number of times and tend to hike towards the back of the pack and always carry a full first aid kit. Special bonus today is a treat for pre-Valentine's Day!

On the beach near Gladstone right now, what a glorious day this is. Patchy white cloud frames the intense blue sky. Surfers lie patiently like foxes waiting to catch the next big one. Sea birds are diving into the Pacific for an early meal.

This is what California is all about. It is a bit chilly, but my 2 base layers are holding up. See you guys in a few hours.

The weather forecast for Saturday is all clear. The sky is usually the most beautiful the day after rain when there are some cloud in the sky to contrast the intense blue sky. When the sky is completely clear and without cloud, it actually does not show up well in photographs. Please view the pictures above and assume for a second that cloud were completely absent. You will get my drift. Bring your camera, it will be a great day to take some memorable pictures.

The trail to Parker Mesa is heavily used, and its surface is packed down hard. If there is mud, it will be along the fringe of the trail. If you are not hiking with heels, then I won't let it bother me. This is the link to Accuweather. The location of the hike is Malibu. http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/malibu-ca/90265/hourly-weather-forecast/337141?hour=57

Sunset It's time to wrap it up, shed the game face, return to the embrace of love ones; It's time to share stories, reminisce over time gone by, count the blessings. It's a time of anticipation for sun will rise again. A new day will soon arrive.

Sunset is hope, Hope for a new beginning, a brighter future, a more fulfilled life.
