Hike Description:

This is a challenging walk to ancient ruins and a large unexcavated pueblo ruin. It is rated strenuous because of the climbs in and out of several beautiful canyons, especially Alamo canyon.

We will start the hike climbing out of Frijoles Canyon near the visitor center. This section climbs approximately 467 ft in about 0.63 miles. Once on top of Frijoles Canyon, there are some nice and unique views of the ruins below. There are 3 canyons that we will encounter. Two are smaller - the largest is Alamo Canyon which is a descent of almost 600 feet and then an ascent of ~550 feet - in less than 1/4 of a mile.

This is an in-out hike. Alamo canyon, therefore, is traversed twice.
