Catskill 3500 Series: Peekamoose and Table Mountains *Winter Ascents*

Peekamoose & Table - Ascend 2 Catskill 35ers!

Total Mileage: About 9.6 miles

Total Elevation Gain: ~3000 feet

Estimated Hike Time: 4.5-6 hours

Special Gear / Requirements: Cold weather wicking layers, insulating & wind/waterproofing layers, food/snacks as appropriate, at least 2 liters of water, first aid, trail conference map #143 & compass, boot traction (microspikes, just in case of icy patches), camera!

Route Description: Starting at the parking lot on Peekamoose Road, we will follow the blue trail past Reconnoiter Rock and some beautiful view points for 3.9 miles to Peekamoose Mountain (3843'). We will continue for approx 0.9 miles further along the blue trail to the summit of Table Mountain (3847') & enjoy more beautiful views! At this point we will turn around and hike the 4.8 miles back to the car. Beautiful views from the top of Ashokan Reservoir and several views of the southwest Catskills.

The parking area is located on Peekamoose Road (Route 42).

As of now, it looks like there will be little to no snow on the ground, so expected pace is around 2 mph. If you tend to go slower, please be comfortable with hiking alone, as in the winter, temperatures are not conducive to stopping and waiting.
