Healthcare + UX: Improving the Quality of Healthcare Experience

Healthcare is complex and has multitude of stakeholders - Hospitals, Physicians, Pharmacies, Health Insurance Companies, Pharmaceutical/Biotech Companies, Medical devices, Employers, FDA, Medicare, MediCal, CDC, Health wellness apps, Health data, Big Data, Health Apps. And, that is before anyone mentions – Obamacare!

How does a patient or a caregiver navigate this maze to get the best possible care? And, the most appropriate doctor? Or, how does one get a claim successfully processed...without pain! How does a consumer access the most relevant health information?

The Los Angeles User Experience Meetup believes that product design / UX design will change healthcare. So, let's get this conversation started and begin to influence people's experience in healthcare.

The first gathering in the series is on June 11 and we have invited three speakers:

Paul Kahn (http://www.madpow.com/team/paul-kahn) will kick off the meeting setting up the stage and defining challenges in healthcare especially that are most amenable to UX solutions. He will sharing stories of how UX techniques provided the insights that led to great healthcare product designs for some of the projects his team worked on at Mad*Pow (http://www.madpow.com/).

The talk will be followed by a panel discussion with Tim Brown (https://www.linkedin.com/in/timwbrown) sharing an insider’s perspective on how WellPoint (http://www.wellpoint.com/) has leveraged User Experience Design to improve their products for employees and members.

Kathryn Campbell (http://primitivespark.com/company/kathryn/), currently serving as Vice President of the Board of Directors for the User Experience Professionals Association International (https://uxpa.org/about/board-directors), will provide a unique UX perspective that will motivate all designers to get excited about applying their skills in healthcare.
