Laws of Gravity is a 1992 film written and directed by Nick Gomez and starring Peter Greene. Jimmy and Johnny are two Brooklyn street toughs who never made it into workaday society. Danger is the hit that gets them out of bed. Jimmy owes a loan shark money and Johnny is wanted by the police. Let's Talk Movies in a restaurant.
We will gather around and each share a "Last Movie Seen." Each of us will talk about a movie that we have seen recently. You can discuss the plot (no spoilers) and your feelings about the film. We encourage discussion about each others' shared movies.
Our second discussion will be about the movie Perfect Days. Our theme this month is "movies where nothing happens." Perfect Dreams follows the days of a man who cleans public toilets in Tokyo and takes time to look at the shadows cast by leaves. It has a great soundtrack, is directed by the esteemed German director, Wim Wenders, and will get you to slow down and appreciate some of the simple pleasures of life.
Perfect Days is streaming on Kanopy (all of our Movies of the Month this year will be on Kanopy) and on Hulu.

Join us for our monthly movie discussion on Zoom! First up will be our regular icebreaker round where we go “around the room” and invite everyone to talk about a movie you’ve watched recently. Give us a short summary, how you saw it and a recommendation or a warning.

The second hour discussion topic will be awards season. Do you follow the awards, Academy or otherwise, or prefer to ignore the spectacle? What did they get right and wrong about 2025? Have you ever watched a movie because it received a festival award or was on a best of the year list that you wouldn't have watched otherwise - and were you glad or sorry? Join us as we discuss these questions and more.

The movie of the month series will return in April. The 2026 series theme is a directors survey. We'll watch two movies each from several of the great directors of world cinema.

Info for Zoom Meetups: Indy Film Buffs operates on Eastern time. The Zoom link will be added to the Meetup event shortly before start time. If you're on the "Going" list but can't see the Zoom link at 7, please comment or message me (Helen) via direct Meetup message and I'll reply with the link. As a best practice to avoid Zoom bombing, attendees who JOIN the meeting with camera off will be removed from the Zoom meeting. I stop monitoring the waiting room about 7:15 (you can message me if you know you'll be running late).
