New Meetup: The Fragility of Seconds

Announcing a new Meetup for Indy Film Buffs Meetup Group!

What: The Fragility of Seconds

When: December 1,[masked]:45 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: This is another in the B-Movie series showing at several Republic theatres, including the Georgetown 14. The Fragility of Seconds stars (and was co-written and co-directed by) Julio Cedillo, who played Melquiades Estrada in The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada. According to Fragility's home page, it has played in both the 2008 Houston Film Festival (where it won the award for Best Drama in the Feature Film category) and the 38th annual USA Film Festival- so this could well be the high point of the "recent" movies showing in this series. The movie- which has a running time of 108 minutes- starts at 6:55 PM, so I think we should get there at least ten minutes before that. Tickets are only $6.00 (cheap!!), even though this is an evening (non-matinee) show. I hope that as many of us as possible can show up for what sounds like a very good movie, and so we can encourage the Georgetown 14 to schedule more movies from Midwest Moving Images.
For more info on Midwest Moving Images, click on the link below (and scroll down to the 3rd item):

For more information on The Fragility of Seconds, see the following sites (the second link has a very good review from the showing at the Houston Film Festival; the third link has an article that describes Fragility as an "arty suspense thriller" and "one of those noir dramas, somewhere between Orson Welles' A Touch of Evil and any of Walter Hill's action flicks"; the last link has several posters for the film, with good review quotes and information on festivals and the prize it won):

If you have never been to the Georgetown 14 before, and want to know how to get there, I will cut and past the info from last week's meetup:

The street address of the theater is 3898 Lafayette Rd., but it isn't "on" Lafayette Rd- it is in that area between Lafayette Rd, 38th St., and Georgetown Rd. (And Georgetown Rd. is a tricky one, if you are coming from the N'side, since it seems to change into Pike Plaza after you hit Lafayette Rd. You have to turn left onto Lafayette Rd and then make a right at the second (?) light to find Georgetown Rd. again). The theater does have a "how to find us" message on their recorded line, as I recall (the number is[masked]), but just in case that isn't there anymore.... From Lafayette Rd, the entrance is the same one as the stop light for the main entrance to the Lafayette Square Mall, except the Georgetown 14 is on the other side of the street from the mall. Again, the theater is not "on" Lafayette Rd- I don't know if you can even see it from Lafayette Rd- but it is "hiding" behind the discount supermarket (Save-a-Lot?). If you are on Georgetown Rd. heading north, go past the Papa John's, and the theater will be on the same side of the road. If you are on 38th Street, it's easiest to go to either Lafayette Rd or Georgetown Rd (although I think you can enter the strip mall on the north side of 38th st- the one w/ a CiCi's Pizza in it- and find your way back to the theater eventually).

Anyhow, here is a link to the theater's site (which has a picture of the front of the building):

I hope to see you there!
