Experienced Indy.rbers -
We are in need of volunteers for the workshop August 10th, 9a-1p. At our workshop earlier this year, we had a quite favorable ratio of attendees to volunteers -- around 2 to 1, I believe. It was very helpful. Volunteers were able to work one-on-one quite often, and those with questions had someone to help with almost no waiting. I, of course, can't speak as an attendee, but it seemed to me to be integral to the experience.
As a volunteer, you will mostly be answering questions and providing guidance as we learn a bit more Ruby, and add features to a Rails application. You won't be asked* to do any speaking to the group at large, unless that is something you want to do. Most often, you'll jump in when you see someone raise their hand.
Beyond all the warm-&-fuzzies you get from helping, I simply had a good time last event. I know I wasn't the only one. Drinking coffee, eating bagels, and helping enthusiastic people learn Ruby is a good time.
If you'd like to volunteer, please send me ([address removed]) and/or Anna Carey ([address removed]) a quick note. Also, go ahead and RSVP 'Yes' to the event on Meetup (http://www.meetup.com/indyrb/events/130357502/
). Thanks a ton!
* There are a few exceptions, but they already know who they are. ... Which is good, because it would be a terribly depressing thing to not know who you are.
