KPLUG Monthly Meeting

LinuxCNC (formerly EMC2) is an open-source software system for numerical control of machines such as milling machines, lathes, plasma cutters, routers, cutting machines, robots, hexapods, etc. It can control up to 9 axes or joints of a CNC machine using G-code (RS-274NGC) as input. It has several GUIs suited to specific kinds of usage, such as tool path display, touch screen, interactive code development operation.

Karl Cunningham, our presenter, has been using Linux at home since 1999, and in his job since 2005. At work Karl designs microvolt-level analog hardware, and use Linux and Windows every day. His interests include building seismometers, programming, machining, and electronics.
