June study meeetup

Hi everyone

We might be trying a new venue this month as the Captain's cabin has been quite crowded recently. I'll update this meetup in a day or so to give the final location.

With all the fuss and hype surrounding the probable announcement of a new iPhone next week; this month's topic is anything mobile phone related (apps, social networking, the phones themselves). Vocabulary used while making a phone call; talking about likes and dislikes for mobile phones; favourite applications that you use on your phone etc

For those who haven't been before, our usual format is to gather round in a circle and each person say something in Mandarin about the topic. I suppose you might call it Mandarin Learners Anonymous! Anyway, the idea is that you should prepare something to say - no matter what your level. If you are new to the language, probably the best thing is to say what you like dislike about your current mobile - and potentially, why. For the intermediates, maybe describe the apps (if any) you use, would like to use on a mobile device. And for the very ambitious, maybe compare Google's Android to Apple's iPhone

Anyway, whatever your level, we do make every effort to bring people into the conversation and frequently intersperse the Mandarin with the English, so don't feel intimidated!

So that is what we will be doing. If people have any links to online material relating to mobile phones (or telephones in general) please post them. I will try to post some useful vocab when I have it. If anyone else has some, please do the same. See you on 9th June

Dave
